UK seeks clarification about Kanu’s status, whereabouts from FG

Saturday, 30 September 2017

The United Kingdom has asked the Federal Government to clarify the status and whereabouts of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

The British government said it had asked the government if the British national was alive or dead. However, it could not be immediately ascertained if the Federal Government had responded to the inquiries or not

The Press Officer, UK high commission in Nigeria, Joe Abuku, stated that the inquiry followed reports that Kanu had been missing since September 14, 2017 when armed soldiers stormed his residence in Abia State.

Abuku said this in response to questions from Saturday PUNCH seeking to know UK’s concern on the missing IPOB leader.

“We are seeking urgent clarification from the Nigerian authorities about the status and whereabouts of Mr. Kanu, a British-Nigerian man, who has been reported missing since September 14,” Abuku stated in an email on Thursday.

Asked if the UK would strip Kanu of citizenship on account of the declaration by Nigeria that he was leading a terrorist organisation, the mission said it does not comment on individual cases.

“One of the conditions that can make the United Kingdom strip its citizen of nationality is if the person engages in a terrorist activity at home or abroad. And Kanu has dual citizenship and therefore a citizen of Nigeria and the UK,” the mission stated.

When asked if the UK supported the Nigerian government’s proscription of the IPOB, Abuku stated that the group was not a proscribed organisation under the British law.

“The Indigenous People of Biafra is not a proscribed organisation in the UK,” the mission spokesperson stressed.

However, when asked if the group was free to raise funds or hold rallies in Britain, Abuku said he would need to get an official response on that, but subsequently declined to respond to the question.

He also declined comment oe British authoritiesAbuku said, “We do not routinely comment on whether an organisation is or is not under consideration for proscription. A decision to proscribe an organisation must be based on a belief that it is concerned in terrorism as defined in the Terrorism Act 2000, and it must be proportionate.”

The United States had earlier said it did not consider IPOB a terrorist group and urged Nigerians to de-escalate tension and embrace peaceful resolution of grievances.

Spokesperson for the American Embassy in Nigeria, Russell Brooks, had said, “Within the context of unity, we encourage all Nigerians to support a de-escalation of tension and peaceful resolution of grievances. The Indigenous People of Biafra is not a terrorist organisation under US law.”

Igbo groups mobilise SANs to defend IPOB suspects.Meanwhile, a pro-Igbo Group, Igbo National Council, says it is reaching out to lawyers, including Senior Advocates of Nigeria from the South-East, to defend arrested members of the IPOB.

INC explained that the move was based on its members’ conviction that it was legally and morally wrong for the Federal Government to proscribe IPOB as a terrorist organisation.

The president of the group, Chilos Godsent, told Saturday PUNCH in Owerri, the Imo State capital that the pro-Biafra agitators had not violated any section of the constitution, and that INC would give the arrested IPOB members maximum support.

Godsent said, “The Igbo National Council at its last National Executive Council meeting held in Owerri on Friday, September 22, 2017, among other issues, resolved to reach out to progressive lawyers of Igbo extraction, including SANs, to discuss with them on the issue of volunteering to defend members of IPOB who were arrested during the Operation python Dance II in the South-East region.

“INC was dismayed that the Federal Government, through the Attorney General of the Federation, has concluded plans to charge the alleged IPOB members for terrorism. INC notes that IPOB is not a terrorist organisation and members of IPOB have not willfully violated any section of the 1999 Constitution that guarantee the rights to peaceful assembly and the rights to form and belong to any association.

“In view of the above, INC leadership and its contact committee have started reaching out to lawyers in that respect.”

The group said it was aware that the top members of IPOB were also reaching out to many other lawyers for the same purpose and that on its own, the lawyers it had met with so far had indicated interest in defending the IPOB members arrested in the course of the struggle.

Similarly, Concerned Igbo Unity Forum said that some of its members who are lawyers have volunteered to appear in court for the arrested IPOB members on pro bono basis.

The chairman of the forum, Sixtus Nwoke, said, “There are lawyers who have volunteered to take up the case considering the general view that they are not a terrorist organisation. Our stand is to ensure the unity of the Igbo among themselves in any state or country of residence.

“We equally ensure the safety of their lives and property during precarious times such as we are experiencing now.”

Military won’t declare Kanu wanted -DHQ

The Defence Headquarters on Friday in Abuja said that it had no business declaring the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, wanted.

At a briefing with journalists, the DHQ stated that Kanu was not in military custody and so they couldn’t be held accountable for him.

The Director, Defence Information, Maj. Gen. John Enenche, who made the statement, also claimed that the military did not raid Kanu’s residence.

He said, “Kanu is not in the custody of the military. It is not the responsibility of the DHQ to declare him wanted.

“If the court says that if he does not show up for hearing, it will hold the military responsible, (then) let us wait till that time.

“The military never raided Kanu’s house. I watched the whole operation live on that day. Even I don’t have any right to stop you while passing on a public route. I saw that the Biafran Security Service and the Biafran National Guards mounted roadblocks, and the soldiers came out peacefully and said, ‘Boys, let us pass’. But the Biafrans attempted to collect their guns. Nobody went to Kanu’s house or raided him or took him away.”

On the proscription of IPOB, the defence spokesperson said that the military was not involved in the process.

He said, “The statement of the DHQ on IPOB’s activities is not opposed to what the army chief came out to say. Did we say IPOB was proscribed? No. But some people had a mindset and were in a hurry to attack the military.

“The military did not proscribe IPOB; due process was followed before the proscription. What the military did was to diagnose the security elements and warn of consequences. The military also knows the law.”

Enenche said that the military deployment in states all over the country was to complement the efforts of other security agencies.

He said, “The armed forces of Nigeria are not alarmed by the fear which some expressed that troops are deployed all over the country. The military see and analyse differently, while people see and analyse differently.

“It is the military that can tell you the signs and symptoms of a security element. Other countries passed through what we are passing through before they got to their present developed state.

“For days before Operation Python Dance II started, there were fears, not caused by the military, but by the propaganda of some persons.”

Slow Down: Life Is Not A Race.

Slow Down: Life Is Not A Race

My name is Tim, and I’m addicted to time.

I’m so freaking impatient I take the stairs instead of the escalator because I can’t stand for 10.5 seconds in silence. I’m not sure what I did with this 10.5 seconds I gained back, but most likely I wasted it on one of those messenger apps.

While I don’t believe that we should waste time, I do believe we shouldn’t become obsessed with it. Time is more important than money. It’s the clock that never stops and it will end one day.

With that said, we can’t keep being obsessed with time. This obsession has become a disease for the new breed of high achievers. All this motivationalcontent we can now consume makes us feel like we have to achieve so much more than we really do.

Our reality sabotages us

Our life feels like a race because we look at what everyone else is doing and then compare it with our own results. When I look at my friends I see:

– They’re married
– They own a house (or two)
– They have kids
– They have perhaps found their dream job
– They’re very fit
– They have more followers than me

Who says that this is what success looks like? Who puts a timeline on when or even why you need to do all of these things?

One of my friends told me the other day that he doesn’t want kids. I thought it was odd until I saw how happy he was with knowing what he wants. All of our success is different.

I once dated this girl who always had to be certain. She told me that she needed to be certain about: marriage, kids, owning a house, investments, holidays, etc. I thought about this for a while and realized that it’s impossible to guarantee anything in life.

Just last week, this idea came up again. I was reading this book called “Tiny Beautiful Things.” The book is a collection of letters to a writer called “Sugar.”

Sugar posts each letter on her online column and then posts the response to the question in the letter. The questions range from how to: deal with: divorce, children, cheating, pregnancy, miscarriage, rape and almost any challenge you could think of in life.

After reading all the letters, I saw a familiar pattern: there are no guarantees. You have to be prepared that tragedy or pain could strike at any time. The problem each of the authors of these letters suffered from was that they thought once you have a plan in place, nothing gets in the way.

Once you’re married, supposedly you’re secure. Yet, what I’ve learned is that security is a myth.

“You have to live with the confidence that anything could happen at any time and that you have the power to overcome any adversity”

If you don’t live with that power, then when life knocks you flat on your ass, you’re going to experience extreme pain. That could then be followed by drugs, alcohol, out of control sex (the bad kind), mental illness, sickness and unemployment.

Your timeline is a myth, sorry

So if we have no real certainty then how does that affect how we think about time? It means that the race we think of as life, with all of these time indicators, is a total myth! If we take it a step further, it means that your timeline for this whole achievement race is a waste.

When you think you are falling behind because of a setback, at another point in time, you will catch up and progress one hundred miles in front of where you thought you would be. There will be moments of massive momentum, and then moments of incredible failure. It’s all gravy.

What you think you want, you don’t

You’re running this race against time because of the things you think you want. Someone said something to me the other day that was profound. They said:

“Tim, single people want to be married, and married people want to be single.”

We’re always chasing the next sunset because we think that’s what we want. When we finally get it, we want the opposite. It’s easy to obsess over something you don’t have. It’s not hard to feel like you’ve been lazy with your time.

The truth is your wants will change and so will the timeline. Embrace this uncertainty and know that surprises are fun. Life is going to throw things at you and that’s what makes it worth living.

“Reading the same story over and over, when you know the ending, is boring. Life is the same”

Slow down

The point of this post is that you are racing ahead trying to win a race that doesn’t exist. So now that we know this race is a myth, we can slow down.

By slowing down, we can enjoy where we are right now. We can be happywith all the things we’ve accomplished rather than dwelling on what we think we should have already completed. By slowing down, we get to be truly happy again.

We can sit by the beach and watch a sunset. We can hang out with friends and be fully present without a phone in sight. We can eat an incredible meal and enjoy every bite. Why can we slow down and do these things? Because we’ve quit the race we thought we were running.

By seeing the truth, we’ve created possibility in our lives. We’ve become open to whatever life throws at us and we’re equipped to deal with the different seasons of life. I’m sitting here drinking Chinese tea right now and it tastes delicious. I’m enjoying it because today I’ve decided to slow down.

I’ve decided to quit the race, and enjoy myself instead. I’ve decided to see things differently and I encourage you to do the same.

Is the cryptocurrency Bitcoin a good idea?

Thursday, 28 September 2017

I Owned Over $500,000 Worth of Bitcoin. Here is What I Learned.I Owned Over $500,000 Worth of Bitcoin. Here is What I Learned.
In 2012 I bought $1,000 worth of Bitcoin at an average price of $5.
Today, those 200 Bitcoins are worth about $360,000.
That’s a lot of money and a tremendous return on my original investment. It’s by far the best return of any investment I’ve ever made.
When I made that first investment, I barely told anyone. I wasn’t keeping a secret or anything, it’s just that at the time Bitcoin was virtually unknown. And if you tried to explain what the cryptocurrency was, you’d just get weird looks.
“So, you’re telling me you spent $1,000 on a currency that is held in a computer and isn’t recognized by any government?” That was the normal question I got when I rarely brought up the idea of using Bitcoin.
“Well, yeah. But, it’s much more than that. You see, Bitcoin is decentralized, so it can’t be manipulated by a government. It’s kind of like gold, but you can transfer it over the internet,” I’d tell people.
“So it’s gold on the internet?” They’d ask.
“Well, kind of. But, really the most important thing is the Blockchain. That’s the future. Bitcoin just uses the Blockchain,” I’d respond.
At this point, I’d get a blank stare. So, then I’d move the conversation onto a different topic.
I was very excited about Bitcoin in 2012. I knew it would have a bright future.
Then, in 2013 I started to trade Bitcoin. When I say “trade,” it’s not like I was trading baseball cards for bubble gum. I was trading Bitcoin on a cryptocurrency brokerage based out of a foreign country.
I did very well. I almost doubled my position.
Today I would have well over $500,000 worth of Bitcoin.
Source: Coindesk
Yes, I would have had.
Remember how I told you that I was trading Bitcoin on a foreign brokerage? Well the US government didn’t like that. Something about me being a US citizen trading cryptocurrencies on a foreign trading platform sounded weird to them.
The brokerage received a ‘notice’ to cease doing business with US citizens. With that threat, the brokerage froze my account which preventing me from making any trades.
Then, the brokerage went under.
Poof! Gone.
I was devastated.
Keep in mind, this happened when the price of Bitcoin was still under $100. So, I lost a serious amount of money, but it wasn’t anywhere near what it would have been today.
At the time, I just chalked it up as a loss. In reality, I only lost my original $1,000. Little did I know that the price of Bitcoin would soar to over $1,800 and my potential holdings would have been worth over half a million dollars today.
So here is what I learned:
#1 Bitcoin is exciting. However, the Blockchain is even more interesting.
#2 Never put all of your assets into one account. That applies to regular fiat currencies, cryptocurrencies, and any other type of asset you hold. You must diversify where you hold your wealth.
#3 Never underestimate your vulnerability to an outside force. This doesn’t mean you should live in fear, but just be aware that you’re never 100% safe.
#4 Bitcoin is an excellent answer to fiat currencies that are highly controlled and manipulated. But gold, land, art, and collectibles are also great options. Bitcoin is NOT the ultimate solution.
#5 The Blockchain (which Bitcoin is built upon) will have a huge impact in the future. Many companies are developing technologies which utilize the Blockchain, so it’s important to learn about how it works now.
Clearly, I made a lot of mistakes.
However, hindsight is 20/20 and I would have never guessed what that original $1,000 investment could have turned into.
Despite this painful learning experience, there is one thing that I can take away more than anything:
Be open to new ideas and changes.
When I first invested in Bitcoin, a large majority of people assumed Bitcoin was just a big scam. I’d attribute this assumption due to lack of understanding.
Learning about Bitcoin and how the Blockchain works was very difficult in the beginning. But, if you take the time to look at the facts with an open mind, you’ll be amazed.

15 Reasons to Have a Fun, All Weekend Long

If you have a weekend alone with your lover, you need to make the most of it. Here’s how to have a naughty, dirty sex marathon all weekend long.

Dirty Sex
There’s really nothing better than waking up on a Saturday morning and having some great, dirty sex. The only thing that could possibly be better is if you continue to have fun sex throughout the entire weekend.
If you have some time off and have the entire weekend alone with your significant other, then having a sex marathon is definitely the way to go. Everyone needs to forget their responsibilities and focus on having great sex for a couple of days straight.
Sometimes it’s great to forget everything and just have sex
This is especially true if you’ve been in your relationship for a very long time. You tend to get into a routine with your partner and that can end up being boring. And your sex life should NEVER be boring.
That’s why it’s beneficial to just forget your other duties to have sex all weekend. It’s a great way to bond, grow closer to your partner, and just enjoy each other’s bodies. The hustle and bustle of life can often get in the way and we can forget to truly appreciate each other on a sexual level. [Read: 20 moves to last longer during sex]
Why you should drop everything and have dirty sex all weekend long
If you’re down for a sex marathon, then dirty sex is definitely the kind you should be having. Who cares about regular, boring sex when you could be getting down and dirty? But first, you have to know how to have the best dirty sex before you can jump right into a weekend of bliss.
How to have dirty sex like a pro
If you want to switch things up, having some raunchy, rough sex is the best way to go. Here’s how to switch out of your norm and have some great dirty sex. [Read: How to have the best rough and dirty sex ever]
#1 Play up your fantasies. Do you have this one fantasy you’ve always wanted to try but just can’t seem to find the time for? If you want dirty sex, you can definitely make it a reality. Talk about what you’ve fantasized and then put it to work.
#2 Start talking dirty. Dirty talk is an obvious way to turn normal sex into something a lot more fun. Throwing in some sexy phrases will not only make you feel better, but it’ll turn your partner on like you wouldn’t believe. [Read: How to talk dirty in bed like a pro]
#3 Make it rough. Rough sex and dirty sex are relatively the same thing. Turning it up a notch and getting a little rough with each other can make things a lot more exciting. Not only that, but it can also give you more intense pleasure.
#4 Get some biting action. If you really want to have great dirty sex, start biting and nibbling your partner. You absolutely don’t have to do this if you’re not comfortable with it, but it can be really sexy if you do it in the right places.
#5 Use some sex toys and tie each other up. Get all 50 Shades of Grey on each other. Grab some fun sex toys, tie your partner up, and go to town on them. Make them feel good while they can’t even move. That’s the dirtiest sex of them all. [Read: 13 must-have couple’s sex toys for first timers]
Why you should have dirty sex all weekend

#8 You’ll be happier. Everyone could use a boost in their mood. Sex is a fantastic way to get rid of that crabbiness and get back to a happy state of mind. Because of the endorphins released when you have sex, you’ll stay in a great mood all weekend.
#9 You can experiment with your partner. Use your dirty sex weekend to experiment in the bedroom. Try new things. Go get some sex toys and put them to work. If your sex life has been lacking, use that weekend to find new things the both of you really enjoy. This way, you can implement them into your regular sex routine for better sex. [Read: 20 new things to try in bed at least once with your lover]
#10 You’ll feel young again. Even if you ARE young, having a dirty sex marathon all weekend can bring you and your partner back to the very beginning of your relationship when you couldn’t keep your hands off each other.
Don’t you miss that excitement and all that great sex? Bring it back this weekend by forgetting everything else and diving into sex all weekend.
Having dirty sex isn’t for everyone. But if you are into it, these reasons for getting it on all weekend long are more than convincing. Grab your partner, hit the mattress, and do the dirty.

Why Kanu's Radio Biafra is still operational in London - British government

- The United Kingdom states that it has continued to habour Radio Biafra because Nigeria has not officially requested its closure

- The UK said it is not officially aware of any request by the Nigerian government

- Lai Mohammed had said Nigeria made moves to get the radio shut down

The British government has said its refusal to shut down Radio Biafra, an arm of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is not deliberate, but that it has not received any request to that effect. The United Kingdom said there was no request from the Nigerian government to have the radio shut down.

The denial was made by the British high commission in a statement by its press and public affairs officer, Joe Abuku. The short statement said: “The UK is not aware of any representation from the Nigerian government about Radio Biafra.

“Were we to receive any such request, we would of course consider it carefully on the basis of the available evidence, recognising that freedom of speech and expression carries responsibilities.”

The statement could be a reply to Lai Mohammed, the Nigerian information minister, who was quoted as saying the British government had continued to allow the radio despite the damage done by Kanu and IPOB.

Mohammed had reportedly said: “Who does not know that the IPOB internal radio is located in London?

“We know the diplomatic moves we have been taking and approaching the UK, all the damages it (Radio Biafra) has done, but they don’t see it that way, for them (the British government), it is about freedom of expression.

” earlier reported that the government of France has denied any links with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the group seeking a referendum to carve out a separate country in the southeast region of Nigeria. The report stated that the federal government of Nigeria which launched a brutal military clamp down on the separatist group last week subsequently proscribed and declared it a terrorist organisation.

How to Spot Girls Who are Gold Diggers So You Can Avoid Them

Unfortunately, there are girls who are gold diggers out there. They only want your money and don’t give a shit about you. Here’s how to spot them.

girls who are gold diggers
There are a lot of crappy people in the world. It’s just the life we live in. That being said, some of the worst are people you use you. People might use you for a number of reasons but girls who are gold diggers only want one very specific thing. And they’re too lazy to earn it themselves.
What is a gold digger?
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this term, no worries. A gold digger is simply someone who uses another for their money. Usually, these are girls who only want to be with a guy so he’ll buy her nice things. However, it can also be a guy. That’s just not nearly as common. [Read: 10 sneaky signs you’re definitely dating a gold digger]
You should never let someone use you for any reason
No matter what it is, you should never tolerate someone using you. Even if you actually care for them but know they have no real feelings for you, dump them. It’s not fair to subject yourself to their disrespect.
Because that’s what it is. They’re actively disrespecting you in order to get what they want. That’s not fair to you. Your time is worth so much more than that and they need to be stopped. No matter the reason for them using you, don’t allow it.
How to spot the signs of girls who are gold diggers
Thankfully, being able to tell if a girl is just using you for your money is a lot easier than you may think. They give off some pretty obvious signs that they only want you for your money and nothing more. Here’s how to spot the girls who are gold diggers so you can cut them off and move on to someone who actually respects you.
#1 Overly agreeable attitude. There are plenty of girls who are go-with-the-flow and very laid back. The difference with girls who are gold diggers is that they agree with everything you say and do with a lot of enthusiasm. This is to make you like them and want to spend money on them. It’s a manipulation tactic. [Read: 20 common signs of people pleasers to watch out for]
#2 She has everything in common with you. This is another way some girls will try to manipulate you. When you first get to know her, she’ll basically tell you she likes all the same things you do. You’ll know this is true if you’re the one always talking about what you like and she simply jumps in to tell you, “me too!”
#3 She compliments you too much. There comes a point when compliments are just way too much. Sure, she may really like how you look but after a while, it’s just not genuine. If she’s complimenting you over and over again, then you know it’s a lie and she just wants to butter you up so you’ll spend money on her. [Read: How to decode the true meaning of compliments]
#4 She uses sex as a weapon. And she’ll also hold it over your head. Basically, if you do anything wrong and she refuses to have sex with you because of it, she’s probably a gold digger. This is another way she gets you to buy her stuff. If you get her a new purse and she has sex with you again, it’s a reward system. She’s conditioning you to basically pay for her lady bits.
#5 She gushes over your job or expensive possessions. It’s less about what a good person you are and more about what you can provide her with. If you’re a doctor, it’s normal for women to think that’s really incredible because of the fact that you’re helping someone. But if your job isn’t morally all that great and she still gushes about it, it’s probably because it’s known that people in your position make a lot of money.
#6 She has expensive taste. Does she buy top-of-the-line everything? Are all of her clothes name-brand? If so, she’s definitely a gold digger. People who have really expensive taste and also don’t have a super high-paying job often need someone else to buy those things for them. Which means they’ll seek out wealthy people and latch onto them like a leech to flesh. [Read: How to date a high-maintenance girl without going broke]
#7 Gifts will always make her forgive you. Basically, any time you two get into a fight and it’s resolved when you buy her something, she’s a gold digger. Problems should be sorted out through communication, not lavish gifts.
#8 She doesn’t pay attention when you talk. This is really easy to notice because she won’t be able to remember anything you say or anything important about you. It’s because she doesn’t care about you. She only cares about what’s in your wallet.
#9 She forgets your big events but never hers. Basically, she doesn’t make room in her schedule for the stuff you need her to be at but she’ll always write down things she wants to go to. Concerts, dinners, and even shopping dates with friends are never missed. [Read: 15 signs someone is emotionally detached and really doesn’t care about you]
#10 She requires you to join her to expensive clubs and dinner parties. Does she have expensive taste when it comes to clubs and food, too? If so, she could only be with you for your money. Girls who are gold diggers like to dine at really nice establishments, even if they can’t afford it themselves.
#11 You don’t actually know that much about her. How much do you actually know about her? Does she talk about her family, her values, or anything of relevance to a relationship? If she doesn’t, it could be a sign she’s just a gold digger who’s after you for your money.
#12 She’s out of your league, significantly. This might be a hard one for you to admit but it’ll help you determine if she’s a gold digger or not. A girl who is very, very attractive dating a guy who isn’t exactly the best looking is cause for serious alarm. And if you make a ton of money, that might be the reason she’s attracted to you. [Read: How to date a girl who’s significantly out of your league]
#13 You’re not liked by most people. On the flip side, if you’re good looking but a really big asshole, she could be a gold digger because of the amount of money you make. Nobody wants to spend their life with a mean person unless that person can compensate for it fairly.
#14 She’s actually asked for money from you. If you’ve been in a relationship for a long time and she’s asking you for money because she’s running low, that’s not a cause for alarm. It’s only when the relationship is very new and she’s already asking you for money that it becomes an issue.
#15 Her job doesn’t pay much – if she even has a job. If she even has a job, it probably doesn’t pay very well. That’s how you know she’s a gold digger and is only with you for the money. So long as she also shows other signs on this list, you’re definitely with someone who only likes you for the money.
The sad thing about girls who are gold diggers is that they have no shame. They don’t care if they’re manipulating and hurting you. It’s up to you to spot them and put an end to their spending from your bank account.

How to Be Pretty: Atypical Secrets to Owning Your Beautiful You

We’re all pretty, but there are moments where you simply don’t feel it. We wonder how to be pretty. In those moments, take control of how you feel.

how to be pretty
There were moments where I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror. Was it because I was ugly? No, I know I’m pretty, but at that time, I didn’t feel it. If you think you’re unattractive because your nose is too big or your eyelashes too light—enough with that bullshit. We’re all pretty but when I say the word pretty, I mean the entire package. This is how to be pretty inside and out.
How to be pretty: More than just shiny baubles
When I looked at myself in the mirror, I didn’t feel pretty. I didn’t feel that I had a beautiful soul. I didn’t feel that I was a good person, nor did I think I was physically attractive. Your ‘prettiness’ is directly correlated to how you feel, not necessarily how you look. Does that make sense? If you want to be pretty, sure, you can brush your hair and whiten your teeth, but it takes more than just that.
It’s more than slapping on a pair of high heels. [Read: How to look cute and 25 ways to melt any guy’s heart effortlessly]
#1 It starts with confidence. If you’re not confident in yourself, you’re not going to see yourself as an attractive person. It really all starts with confidence. Now, you can gain confidence in different ways.
You can become good at something specific, such as singing, baseball—whatever you like. You can also gain confidence through the support of people around you, your friends and family. Lastly, you gain confidence through your appearance. Basically, you develop your confidence through improving yourself. [Read: How to gain confidence and turn your life around for the better]
#2 Take pride in your look. I’m not saying you need to wear makeup or start learning how to walk in high heels. Being pretty has this connotation that you need to look like a Barbie Doll which is complete crap.
Looking good doesn’t mean you should conform to society’s standards. Looking good means dressing and caring for yourself in a way that makes you feel confident and sexy.
#3 Focus on what you have. Trust me, I know right away what my flaws are, at least the physical ones. I have yet to fully admit my personality flaws. The point is, you need to focus on the positive aspects about you. If you’re constantly fixated on your flaws, how will you show your beauty to others? Everyone is flawed, so, get over it. [Read: How to change your self-deprecating attitude]
#4 Don’t view beauty as a competition. This is why women are all messed up. We’ve been forced to act like beauty and men are competitive prizes. If you work out the hardest, you’re the fittest which makes you hot. If you wear lots of makeup, you’re more beautiful than any other woman.
It’s all garbage. You cannot view beauty as something that’s a prize. Everyone already has beauty, it simply varies from person to person.
#5 Take care of your body. This doesn’t mean you need to work out every day, twice a day. Though I do recommend you do some sort of physical activity, you don’t want to lose muscle. You need to take care of your body, you literally are given only one.
Taking care of your body through healthy eating and exercise shows that you value yourself which brings out beauty. When you see someone who cares about themselves, not in a narcissistic way, they appear better looking to you. [Read: How to feel sexy and desirable from within]
#6 Be yourself. This is the best way to learn how to be pretty. Listen, I’m on Instagram every day, I see how women look nowadays. Now, I’m not saying they look unattractive but everyone is trying to fit into this mould. Every girl wants to look like Kim Kardashian and at the end of the day, they’re not her. You’re not her. Be yourself.
#7 Compliment people. I know, you probably weren’t expecting this. You probably thought that I would say that you should accept a compliment, which you should! However, giving is more rewarding than receiving.
Complimenting others, which has been scientifically proven, makes you a happier person. You are perceived by others and yourself that you are a more attractive person when you compliment someone else. That is… if they’re genuine compliments. #8 Laugh. I know so many girls that don’t smile because of frown lines or because they want to look mysterious and sexy. Honestly, who gives a shit. Listen, life is short. Why spend it trying to impress people who won’t be in your life ten years down the road?
Plus, men find women who laugh to be more attractive. So, if that doesn’t give you more of an incentive to laugh, then I don’t know what will. [Read: 18 ways to look pretty and sweet, and catch any guy’s eye]
#9 Check out a sauna. First of all, saunas are great. Second of all, they help you excrete toxins from your body through sweat. If you feel stressed out, head to the sauna. It helps you calm down, relax, and, well, not have those pesky stress breakouts. If you’re prone to stress and having skin breakouts due to it, then hit the sauna.
#10 Cut the sugar. Now, you’ve most likely heard all the negative aspects that come from sugar—inflammation, premature wrinkles, acne, weight gain, fatigue. If you want more energy and feel a lack of confidence because of your skin, then cut the sugar.
Trust me, in a week you’ll notice the difference. No fruit juices, no candy, no processed foods—just stick to your fruits and vegetables. [Read: 12 benefits of exercise on your mind, body, and libido]
#11 Have sex. Having sex is a great confidence booster, especially when the person is really into you. Plus, when you have sex, your body releases hormones which make you feel younger and happier. Like, what more could you ask for? It’s time you started having sex. You can literally hump your way to feeling pretty.
Now that you know how to be pretty, are you willing to put in the work? Of course, it won’t be easy, but this will help shape you and your future.
